Today's Menu ~ April 23

Just so you know...today is Shakespeare's birthday!

I am attending a meeting (hopefully, a short one!) concerning my mother's care.

Please plan to sell ads on Tuesday! Permission slips are on desk nearest the door. Since you will not be in class on Tuesday, we need to accomplish a lot today!

Please work on the following:
  1. Your recipes must be typed today! Leave me a comment below when your ten emails are typed and proofed!
  2. Work on your magazine layouts. "Final" drafts are due Wendesday! Need to see progress...and remember "white space" is a requirement on these pages!
  3. For Signing Day, call your businesses. Leave me a comment below telling me the results!
  4. The Sparkle Pageant/Talent Show is postponed until Friday, May 14 due to lack of enough entries. Please do your part and hang posters where you know people of interest might see them! Encourage your friends to enter the talent show.
  5. Senior Ad Templates needed! From the 18 templates, you will vote for 10 to send out to the upcoming seniors. Save them in the senior ad folder in the 2011 Yearbook folder. Due Monday, May 3.
  6. Yearbook Theme 2011: Presentations due Monday, May 3!

Yes! You may work on any of this on your own time next week...for all of this is due soon!

I should return before the end of class...if not, please type your questions below or email them to me at mrsg.homework@gmail.com.

Thanks...you are the best!

Today's Menu ~ Feb. 16

Good luck on working on your pages!

I have worked on several of your pages. Wanting to make changes? Please do NOT make any changes until you have all the information on the page. THEN you can play with layout. In other words, these pages that I have helped you with can go as is...for we MUST meet this deadline for our sanity's sake!

Please consider using white space on your page...yes, pure white space. Our book is VERY colorful...probably too much color all over the page. Might look at the FBLA page for an example.

Simply your pages where possible...that would help us meet this deadline faster. NO, that does not mean you do not have to write your stories!

Computers are moving slllllooowwww...BUT this one I have been working on is also (laptop in Little Rock). Here's my theory: these files are just huge. Plus, the computer is looking for all links. In hindsight, we should have all used ImagePlacer, for then all the links would be setting in a folder beside the page. THEREFORE, please begin, if you are not, using ImagePlacer.

I have placed some more pics in folders: tennis team, office workers, Christian Club...library workers may still be on the cardreader...

Erin, I forwarded some pics from Mrs. Hogan to you...they have to be taken into PhotoShop...

Casey, I forgot to get Anna's pic yesterday! Did you remember Quiz Bowl?!

Use today also to get the rest of your pics and quotes!

REMEMBER use different faces! Some of you are placing your face and your friend's faces on your pages. While that is flattering...remember our goal is to get as many different faces on a page as possible.

I am still struggling with re-doing pages on Deadlines 2 and 3. No more Online for us! Not until we have a whole lot more training and a very stable Internet connection!

Finished with your pages? Then begin proofing! That is a very important step that we haven't even started!

SPELLCHECK! Spellcheck everything...even captions!

Party on Thursday! Please plan on spending the entire day on Thursday with me! Would not be a good day to miss! Make plans to be at school the entire day on Thursday! Goal: to leave with
Deadline 4 finished...as in, history!

Call me if you need to. I am in a meeting today and will check in with you. Will return your phone calls at break.

Good luck!

Today's Menu ~ January 28

Good job on Deadline 3! As I type this, I am uploading the pages to Walsworth! Amazing...we have completed three of the five deadlines!

Party next week...pizza one day...okay?

As for today...
  1. Decide thematic elements for the next sections...academics and clubs. This might be as simple as headline placed or created in a similar manner.
  2. Look at some of the yearbooks...those we were looking at the other day may be buried under the posters on the back table.
  3. Choose one template to duplicate, modify, or enhance.
  4. Begin choosing photos for your page.
  5. Plan your story for your D3 assignment. Write interview questions and deliver or email them.
  6. Remember to plan for and allow white space on your pages.

Next week:

  • Time to plan our upcoming fundraisers, including the pageant and Signing Day.
  • National English Honor Society claimed the Book Fair...sorry!
  • Other ideas for a fundraiser? A dance? Maybe?

Enjoy your weekend...rest, play, re-energize!
